Blown-in Insulation

Loose-fill insulation is the process of filling stud, joist cavities, or covering attic floors with a variety of loose materials that have a good R-value. It offers a much faster way to add new layers of insulation on top of what already exists, or insulate from ground zero. Within an hour or two, one of our specialists can blow a thick blanket of loose insulation across any attic.

Types of Blown-in Insulation

Cellulose

This is the most common material used for loose-fill insulation, especially amongst eco-minded homeowners in North America. Cellulose is made of finely shredded recycled cardboard, wood-based materials or newspapers. It is additionally treated with boric acid and other substances that make it flame and mold resistant.

Cellulose blown-in insulation can offer the highest R-Value for any part of your home.

Fiberglass

The conventional fiberglass insulation is another option for home owners across Canada. It is commonly seen as pink or yellow blanket and batt.

Loose-fill fiberglass is considered to be light as air type of insulation. It is manufactured from glass that is heated to a liquid and then spun into thin fibers. Our blown-in fiberglass insulation can offer on average R-2.5 thermal value per inch.

Rock Wool

Also known as loose-fill mineral-wool insulation, rock wool is an efficient way to insulate your home. The material is produced from recycled blast-furnace slag and trap rock, which is a fine-grained igneous rock. It is heated, combined with other minerals, and then spun into an airy product similar to fiberglass.

This type of insulation does not need to be dense-packed, like cellulose and offer an R-Value of around 3.3 per inch.

The Benefits of Blown-in Insulation

Easy to Install

Blown-in cellulose is the most time efficient insulation on the market. What does that mean? Whether you have to do your attic or your basement, it requires much less time when compared to other insulation types. It is quick and easy to complete, often taking less than an hour for a standard attic.

Energy Efficient

Blown insulation offers complete and comprehensive coverage of any area, whether you are topping off existing insulation or adding new one. With our insulation you can reach the highest R-Value measures and ensure your home saves up to 50% on energy.

Cost Effective

Speed and energy efficiency means you are saving money. First, the cost to install blown insulation, whether cellulose of fiberglass is much lower when compared to other forms of installation because it takes less time to complete.
